NOCKAMIXON ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISORY COUNCIL
Meeting Dates: The Environmental Advisory Council meets the second Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM at the Township Building. The public is welcome.
Formation: Adopted by the Board of Supervisors of the Township of Nockamixon 2-26-1991 by Ord. No. 66. The Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) is comprised of no fewer than 3 and no more than 7 volunteer members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors to 3-year terms. Members must be residents of Nockamixon Township.
Purpose: The Nockamixon Township EAC seeks to identify environmental issues and to recommend and promote programs which protect and improve the quality of the environment within the municipality for the benefit of the community. The EAC reviews proposed land development plans and advises the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors regarding the impact to natural resources and environmental concerns. Additional responsibilities include recommending possible use of open land areas and maintaining an index of open areas, including but not limited to flood prone areas, swamps, and other unique natural areas. The EAC functions in an advisory capacity to augment the work of the Open Space, Groundwater Management, and Parks and Recreation committees.
